In my experience, if there’s anything that’s a commonality between the people who experience slower progress than others it is that they lack quality sleep. And are often stressed also, which is usually a byproduct of lack of sleep. Or their lack of sleep is caused by stress. Chicken or the egg? But seriously…

Release more ghrelin which causes more hunger signaling. A study even showed that people who sleep less than 8 hours a night end up consuming 500 calories more per day on average (gotta have something to eat while watching Netflix at midnight)![]()
You will have more of what you don’t want and less of what you want. So, even if you lose weight, you lose a significant amount from muscle tissue, and not so much from fat. Not a great tradeoff.![]()
You will obviously feel tired and move less both consciously and unconsciously. Therefore your energy expenditure declines while you actually feel like eating more (because of ghrelin).![]()
You will have the testosterone levels of a person 10 years your senior. If you routinely sleep less than 7 hours. This will not just affect your sex life but also how much muscle and strength you can build at the gym, and how much drive you have to go to the gym in the first place.
